Aaron Frankcomb Named The 2026 Keith Walker Australian Squash Coach Of The Year

4/4/2026

Squash Australia has officially named Aaron Frankcomb the 2026 Squash Coach of the Year, awarding him the prestigious Keith Walker Coach Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to player development and high-performance squash in Australia.

Announced as part of the Squash Australia Awards for 2026, this honour reinforces Frankcomb’s position as one of the most trusted and results-driven squash coaches in Australia.

National recognition cements The East Coast Squash Academy as Sydney’s premier high-performance Academy

The announcement also celebrated Jackson Wylie’s recent on-court accomplishments, including being named the 2026 Chris Robertson Junior Player of the Year (Male) — a powerful reflection of the strength and consistency of Frankcomb’s coaching system.

A Coaching Philosophy That Produces Results
At the heart of Aaron Frankcomb’s success is his commitment to Deliberate Practice Principles — a structured, high-performance methodology focused on intentional training, feedback loops, and measurable improvement.

Through his leadership at East Coast Squash Academy, Frankcomb has created an environment built on trust, accountability, and long-term athlete development — a combination that continues to deliver national-level results.

Reflecting on the award, Frankcomb was quick to shift the spotlight onto his athletes:

“As a coach, I often tell my students: it’s not me that makes you great—it’s your willingness to listen, trust the advice, and do the work.”

He added:

“I’m confident in my coaching and the strategies I teach, but the results come from the players themselves—their physical, mental, technical, and strategic commitment.”

From World-Class Player to Elite Coach
Before becoming one of Australia’s leading coaches, Frankcomb built an elite playing career:
  • Top 100 in the world for 8 years, including top 50 for 4 years
  • Winner of 4 PSA titles
  • Represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games
  • Multiple-time Australian Junior Champion
Now, he channels that experience into building the next generation of athletes — guiding juniors and emerging players through structured development pathways from grassroots to elite competition.

Building Champions — At Scale
Under Frankcomb’s leadership, the East Coast Squash Academy has become a powerhouse of junior development:
  • Over 25 Australian Junior Champions developed
  • Strong representation across NSW and Australian teams
  • Proven pathways into professional squash (PSA Tour)
  • More than 500 weekly junior participants
Frankcomb highlighted the current wave of talent coming through the system:
“I have a strong group of junior players right now—talented, dedicated, and committed in a way I haven’t seen in the 13 years I’ve coached in Australia.”

“Watching them step up and commit at this level has been incredibly rewarding.”

A Community-Driven High-Performance Ecosystem
While the award recognises individual excellence, Frankcomb emphasised the broader community behind the success:

“The Academy has built a strong program… which shows proven success.”
“A sincere thank you to our team and everyone who supports us—without you, none of this would be possible.”

He also acknowledged the personal support system that underpins his coaching journey:
“A MASSIVE thank you to my beautiful wife and two girls… who have been so patient with me, to support me to achieve my dreams.”

“Also a huge shout out to my business mentor and resident applied sports psychology and peak performance specialist – Dr Marc Dussault, who has been instrumental in formalising our collaborative Deliberate Practice Principles and recently extending them to high-performance table tennis coaching.”

“This is an opportune time to also acknowledge the person who was instrumental in my early days as a junior with all the enthusiasm a kid could have, Reto Vogel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being the catalyst to this incredible journey I’ve been on and will continue to discover.”

This combination of elite coaching, family support, and a committed player base has created one of the most effective squash development environments in Australia.

A Clear Choice for Aspiring Players and Families

For parents and players across Greater Sydney seeking a proven pathway to excellence, Aaron Frankcomb’s national recognition provides a clear and credible signal.

His ability to integrate professional playing experience with evidence-based training systems and scalable development frameworks makes him a standout leader in Australian squash.
As Frankcomb puts it:

“I’m grateful to have come from being a professional player… to now giving back to the sport and helping the next generation reach their ultimate potential. I hope to see you on court soon.”

“If you’re a parent with kids who want to learn to play squash, I’d be honoured to have them join our Junior Development Pathway Program.”

About The East Coast Squash Academy
The East Coast Squash Academy was founded in 2013 when Aaron Frankcomb retired from the Professional Squash Tour. The East Coast Squash Academy set out to create a business model to expand the presence of squash within the Greater Sydney area squash centres.

Since inception, the Academy has produced some stellar results including: Attracting a handful of junior players with aspirations of going on the professional (PSA) tour.

Its junior program had the biggest contingent of players on the NSW Squash Junior ranking list, with players on the NSW junior state teams, Australian junior teams, and Australian senior players. The Academy has developed several NSW and Australian Junior Champions. At its peak, the junior squash program boasted (pun intended!) over 500 children participating in weekly squads and training sessions. Memberships and participation in squads increased by 100% and 300% respectively and tournament registrations reached at an all-time high.

The Academy has been the home base to eight full time senior players who reached career highs of top 60 in the world on the Men’s PSA Tour. Its best female professional reached a top world ranking of 106.
The Academy created great success building over 100 hours of services per week to grow the court utilisation and increase profits for clubs around the Greater Sydney Area. Since 2016, Energize Health and Fitness, Norths Fitness, Sydney CBD Squash Club, Elanora Squash & Fitness, Sydney Uni Sports & Fitness & University of New South Wales.
