Luke Carah is 16 years old, currently ranked #12 in Boys U17s in NSW, with a matrix rating of 108. Besides squash Luke loves watching movies and also interested in Cricket and spending time with friends. He joined the academy in September of 2015 but has been playing squash since he was 13; since then, he has been captain of the Willoughby 1 junior pennant team. He hopes to make the NSW State Team for Boys U19s and has been working hard to achieve that goal. His favourite shot to play is a forehand straight drive and loves to practice it through rotating drives. His favourite current player is Alister Walker, but his all time favourite player is local Michelle Martin. Luke plays with a Hi-Tec racquet and strings and wears Salming R1 shoes on the court.
Sam Goodman is 13 years old, but began playing squash at age 9. He joined East Coast Squash Academy in September of 2015. So far in his junior career, he has made it to #2 in Junior Pennants with his team and #2 in Willoughby Junior Comps. He also is proud to have a current ranking of #8 in NSW for Boys U15, but he has goals to make the NSW State team for U15s and U17s. Off the court, Sam loves making paper airplanes and loves music! Sam’s favourite player, both current and all time, is Ramy Ashour, and his favourite shot to play is a lob. When training, his favourite drill is length game. Sam uses a Head racquet with Technifibre strings and wears Asics shoes.
15-year-old Anna Goodman is currently ranked #5 for Girls U17 in New South Wales. She started playing squash at 10 years old and joined the Academy in September of 2015. In the past few years, she was happy to place 2nd in the Girls U15 at the ACT Championships and has a goal to make the state team for girls U17. She loves hitting straight kills and practicing rotating drives on the forehand side. Anna’s favourite all time player is local Michelle Martin, but her favourite current player is Ramy Ashour. Anna uses a Karakal racquet with Technifibre strings and wears Asics shoes. Besides squash, Anna loves listening and playing music!
Oliver Boyd joined the East Coast Squash Academy team in September of 2015. He is currently 15 years old with a matrix of 76 and is #17 in NSW Boys U17s. He began playing squash when he was 11 years old and loves playing cross-court nicks, especially while drilling and doing rotating drives with a volley nick option! He made the Metropolitan Catholic Colleges Squash team and hopes to get his matrix to over 100 points by the end of the year. His favourite player on the tour right now is Gregory Gaultier, but his favourite player of all-time is East Coast Squash Academy Director & Head Professional Aaron Frankcomb! Oliver wears Head shoes and plays with a Salming racquet and Tecnifibre strings. Besides squash, Oliver likes pursuing his academics at school, listening to music, and running track.
James Johnson, 15, started playing squash at age 7. He is ranked #13 in Boys U17s in New South Wales, with a current matrix of 137. He is a member of the New South Wales Bluetongues, participated in the CHS Australian Test Team, the CHS NSW team, CHS Sydney North team, and is on the junior pennant team, Willoughby 1. Even with all of these achievements, James still hopes to play in Sydney 1 Pennant and to obtain a University Scholarship! He plays with a Technifibre racquet and strings and Head shoes. James loves to play a rolling nick and his favourite drill is the alley game. In addition, his favourite current player is Ramy Ashour but his all time favourite player is Amr Shabana. James also loves running and Japanese when he is not on the squash court. He joined the academy in September, 2015.
Ryan Lange is 15 years old and joined the Academy September, 2015. He is currently ranked #15 in under 17s, with a matrix of 106. He started playing squash at 12 years old, but even though it hasn't been very long, Ryan has progressed quickly because of his dedication. He even has a goal of making the state team for boys U17s. His favourite player currently on the tour is Nick Matthew, but his all time favourite squash player is East Coast Squash Academy's very own Dominic Benacquista! Ryan's favourite shot to hit is a drop from the back of the court and his favourite training drill is boast, drop, drive. He plays with a head racquet with Ashaway strings and wears Asics squash shoes. Outside of squash, Ryan is also interested in soccer and playing the piano.
Tom Hampson has been playing squash since he was 11 years old. He also joined the Academy as a junior development player in September of 2015. He hopes to be top 7 in his age group for the state and has long term goals of representing NSW on the state team in BU19. In his career so far, Tom has made the NSW State Team in 2015 for BU15 and won the team event at AJCs for his age division the same year. His junior pennant team has won first on several occasions and he was also awarded the Encouragement Award for his team in 2014. He plays with a Karakal racquet and strings and wears Salming Vipers. His favorite shot is a backhand volley but his favorite drill is drop drive. Currently, his favorite player on the tour is Miguel Angel Rodriguez, but his all-time favorite player is Aussie David Palmer. In addition to squash, Tom is also interested in cricket.
