Dominic Benacquista

If you want to combine the right technique with the tactics elite squash players use to outplay the opposition, Dominic Benacquista can quickly take you from whatever level you are  playing  to a prize-winning competitor within a few short months.

Dominic has been involved with The East Coast Squash Academy since its inception. He began as a player representing both NSW and Australia at the national and international levels and is now one of the Academy's Elite Coaches. Dominic has 7 years of experience coaching players from beginners to Australian national players.

With skills and strategies acquired over 10 years of competitive squash, Dominic can quickly and effectively identify defects in your technique and guide you to overcome them. He will also reveal every trick in the book he has used to compete at the national and international levels. These strategies and tactics can make the difference between a victory or a defeat, especially in those nail-biting games and matches when you have to clinch that crucial point.

During his playing career, Dominic competed with the world’s best juniors at the British Junior Open (World’s Most Prestigious Junior Tournament) including Fares Dessouky (#8 World Ranking) and Mazen Hesham (#13 World Ranking).

Dominic’s achievements within the Academy’s program:
  • NSW Junior Squash Team Representative
  • #2 NSW Junior Squash ranking
  • Top 10 Australian Junior ranking
  • Top 15 Australian Senior ranking
  • Former World #267 PSA ranking

As a coach with the Academy, Dominic has been mentored by some of Australia’s best players and coaches most notably: Aaron Frankcomb (Former World #38), Rodney Eyles (Former World #1) and David Palmer (Former World #1).

He also has invested considerable time to learn the finer points of the game from international coaches such as:
  • Gilly Lane (Coach of the American Junior and Senior National Teams and one of  most successful American squash players – Former World #48)
  • Thierry Lincou (France’s best male player of all time and former World #1)

Dominic’s focus on squash has led him to pursue a degree in exercise sports science to acquire a better understanding of the physiology involved to prepare for and endure the demands of on-going competitive squash. He has been granted a prestigious  internship with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) to analyse the physical requirements of the Olympic K1 and C1 Canoeing Teams and provide the appropriate strength and conditioning programs for Australia’s future Olympians and Commonwealth Games athletes.

Whether you’re a beginner, club level player or  elite, competitive squash player, individual coaching with Dominic will help you raise your skills and abilities to the next level.
