GENERAL FAQS

WHAT IS SQUASH?
Squash is a fast-moving racquet sport played within a four-walled court, with a small, hollow rubber ball and squash racquets. Once the ball is served, players take turns hitting the ball against the front wall, above the tin and below the out line. Anyone can learn the rules and the techniques of the game.
I Don't HAVE ANY PRIOR SQUASH EXPERIENCE. IS THAT OKAY?
Not a problem at all. You do not need any prior experience to participate in a squash lesson/class.
WHAT IF I CAN'T HIT THE BALL?
No worries! As a Learn to Play Player, a coach will introduce simple hand-eye coordination skills to develop a pathway tailored to your individual needs. Our expert coaches will teach you how to hit the ball and get more comfortable on court.

DO PEOPLE NORMALLY BRING THEIR OWN RACQUETS?
Most beginner, intermediate and advanced players bring their own.

Learn to Play players usually start with Academy racquets, and many choose to purchase their own once they fall in love with the game.

If you’d like to buy a racquet through the Academy, you can do so via the link below.

HOW DO I CHOOSE A RACquet?
Stay tuned — we have a blog post coming soon with tips on choosing the right racquet. In the meantime, if you’re unsure, you’re welcome to use one of ours, which your coach will expertly pair to suit your game.
I'VE GOT AN OLD SQUASH racquet AND MY GRIP is falling apart. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
It’s time to replace the grip. A worn grip can damage the squash court floor, leaving marks similar to black-soled shoes, which are very difficult to remove.

If you’d like, you can purchase a new grip through the Academy. Our coaching team will deliver it to you directly and even help fit it for your racquet. See the shop link below for more details.

Small Group Classes will grow your passion for squash, whether you’re a learn-to-play/beginner or an advanced player. These theme-based sessions are designed to teach the full range of shots and show you how to apply them in your game. Academy coaches will demonstrate proper technique for your level and provide personalized feedback on what you’re doing well and how to improve.
Classes are capped at just 8 learn-to-play/beginner players and 6 intermediate/advanced players per class across two courts, ensuring you get plenty of one-on-one time with your coach.
AM I GOOD ENOUGH TO Participate in SQUASH CLASSES?
You do not need any experience to play squash but you will need to start at the ‘Learn to Play’ level where you learn the basics of the game and gain the confidence and ability to advance to the next level.
