The Academy classes help you develop a passion for squash, no matter what your level. Improve your skills ​to become a better ​player and take on more ​experienced opponents. 

BEGINNER

SMALL GROUP CLASSES
Beginner classes have been designed for players who have never played squash or minimum racquet sports before (0-349 Sporty HQ). There is no better way to start with the correct techniques, strategies and professional guidance right from the word go.

These classes have been set up for players to have fun, improve fitness and develop a basic understanding of how to play the game. Players will learn hand-eye coordination, the correct swing, footwork, the different types of shots, basic strategies and the rules of squash. The classes will allow players to practice foundational skills through restricted games with others of similar level.

BEGINNER PLUS
​
SMALL GROUP CLASSES
The Beginner Plus classes are perfect for more experienced beginner players (350-549 SportyHQ) or experienced racquet sport competitors (competed 25+ hours in other sports like tennis, badminton, table tennis and racquet ball) and are an excellent way to learn all of the basics of the game including swing, movement, rules of the game, and basic strategy! Each class will incorporate an intensive cardio work out so that you get the best mix of fitness and technique within a small class size. ​

INERMEDIATE
SMALL GROUP CLASSES
The Intermediate classes are for players with a 550-829 SportyHQ ranking. Every week, we will focus on a different theme to build on your solid foundation. The class consists of feeding, drills, routines, and conditioned games in a small group environment. 

​If you’re an intermediate player and have developed your hand-eye coordination, the Intermediate classes will help take your game to the NEXT level by learning a few insider tips and tricks.

People/players who:
  • Would like to learn how to play squash no matter there level with out having to worry about holding anyone else back
  • Want to have fun, socialise and meet new people 
  • Like to learn new skills in a group environments
  • Would like to learn the different types of shots and techniques to hit each one
  • Desire to understand the best strategies to outperform their opponents
  • Want to get fit/increase cardio through training squash 
  • Like structure to develop skills with repetition and coached feedback
  • Would like to take their game to the next level
  • Want to have lessons but don't want to spend more for private lessons
  • Are 16 years and over

CLASS CALENDAR

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF
SMALL GROUP CLASSES
  • Understand the rules of squash
  • Develop your hand eye coordination to connect with the ball consistently
  • Grasp the basic techniques for your forehand, backhand, movement and foot position
  • Learn the different types of shots while improving your accuracy
  • Be able to start play a full court game of squash, hitting serves in regularly
  • Playing with players of a similar level without having to feel bad - like you are not good enough or if you're going to get a good hit
  • Understand basic strategic concepts to outplay your opponents
  • Improve your strength and fitness level without even thinking about it
  • Discover 2-3 areas in your game you can improve that will take you to the next level

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If you are unsure of your squash level or which class to sign up to, please refer to our Squash Skill Self Assessment table to determine where you’ll best fit into our programs.

​Classes will have a maximum of 8 Beginners/Beginners Plus and 6 Intermediate / Advanced players per class, on 2 courts, so you are sure to get plenty of time training with your coach. ​​​

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Non-marking athletic shoes
  • Appropriate athletic clothing
  • Water bottle
Please Note:
All Small Group Classes fees include court, racquet, eye wear (upon request) and equipment for our sessions.
