ACADEMY REGISTRATION
This administrative task is to categorise you within The Academy’s database and the MindBody application with preferential status for discounts, bonuses and other benefits associated with your membership.
PLAYSIGHT REGISTRATION
The public PlaySight registration is free. For us to register you to our multiple facilities and ensure all of your recordings are properly assigned to you takes administrative time. We will make sure that all tournament and pennant recordings are fully coordinated with your team, so you don’t have to worry about anything. It will all be done for you, automatically, seamlessly – like magic!
PLAYSIGHT SYSTEM EXPLANATION
The PlaySight system is a world-class, cutting-edge video recording and streaming system constantly evolving with really cool features. We will, on an on-going basis, be staging in-person information sessions to explain the various components, benefits and features so you can make the most of the platform and maximise its power. You can attend as many of these sessions as you like throughout the year.
SQUASH RULES BOOKLET
Put an end to the arguments by getting acquainted with the rules and etiquette and have them handy to resolve any disputes or confusion. Squash is a highly technical game and by mastering the rules, you’ll improve both your appreciation for the game and your ability to play within the rules.

An additional element of the booklet is a chapter on professional training etiquette to make the most of your time on court when practicing or attending one of The Academy’s classes or coaching sessions.

INITIAL REFERENCE VIDEO
As part of your membership, you will be provided with one free video recording so you can choose to use it as your initial reference point to gauge your future progress. You can use this to record a game or training session, at your discretion.
MENTAL MISTAKES WORKSHOP
We all know squash is a technically challenging sport, which is why we’re addicted to it, but here’s the thing… It takes years to master the physically, athletic and technical skills to play it well and yet all it takes is an instant to blow a point, game or match – due to mental mistakes. Mistakes that are quick and easy to avoid if you know…

  • How to prepare yourself for the stress and strain of competition. Turning the excitement and arousal into a positive rather than a problem.
  • How not to lose focus during a rally. Without this tip, you risk losing a lot of points you should be winning.
  • How to make sure you maintain momentum when winning and re-gain it when you lose a few points in a row. Most games (matches) are won or lost on momentum shifts. With this one technique, you can shift it in YOUR favour – instantly.
  • How to prepare properly, without getting into superstitious rituals. We’ve all heard the dictum: Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance. Mental preparation is just as important as having a spare racket on hand.

You should attend this workshop if you want to avoid the most common mental mistakes that can be easily avoided.  Whatever your current level of play, you are playing opponents who are physically equal to you – gaining a mental edge will give you a secret advantage that when properly applied means you will start to win more games WITHOUT any additional technical, physical or athletic training.
SUCCESSFUL SQUASH STRATEGIES
This “home study” program will take you through the evolutionary process of developing a solid understanding of deliberate practice principles as well as self-awareness essential for mastery at the highest levels of performance.
Even though created with elite players in mind, any social squash player will benefit at his/her level of performance and commitment. The content included in this subscription has helped hundreds of squash players play better because most players get to a point where the mental/psychological aspect of their game is what lets them down. They realise they should be able to play better, not lose to ‘inferior’/lower graded opponents, not be as anxious about playing and stop making so many unforced errors.
Simply put, this program will help you make the most of every hour you spend on court so you can play your best mentally using the same techniques professional squash players use to improve quickly and achieve the highest level of consistency.
At every level of athletic performance, it’s the mental aspect of the game that makes the difference. Physically and technically two opponents are “equal” but it’s the one with his/her head in the right place that will win – often, decisively.
This content is largely unknown to most squash players, which is why learning these strategies makes such a big difference to players who listen and give them an honest attempt. A 10-20% improvement within the first month is quite common…
You will learn how to:
  • Avoid choking at key moments in a game or match.
  • Find out the 1 thing you must know about yourself to train and play at your best.
  • Maintain focus when you’re tired and behind.
  • Stop losing to inferior opponents.
  • Accelerate your squash development to get better a lot faster.
  • Leverage Deliberate Practice Techniques used by the top players.
  • Be mentally tough when it counts and not let yourself down.
  • Overcome performance anxiety for pennant and tournament matches.
  • Be dominant on the T without being a bully.
  • Develop mental models to achieve “impressive results” almost overnight.
  • Increase your confidence to go for the shots in key moments of a game and NOT tin.
  • Become aware of distinctions and nuances that will help you to learn from every rally you play or watch.
  • Identify your opponent’s strengths and weaknesses from the first few rallies.
  • Determine your peak performance requirements to get into “state” and play your best on the day.
  • Avoid distractions that can undermine your confidence and focus.
  • Play to your physical limits and stop losing to less capable opponents.
  • Avoid preventable injuries that re-occur on a regular basis.
  • Have more fun because you’re in control of your emotions on court and not stressed out.
  • Make the most of your technical ability at your age and fitness level.
  • Access to very specific expert references to dive deeper into specific aspects of sports psychology and mental toughness
FULL PERSONAL ASSESSMENT
This 1-hour session evaluates each of the 18 core technical skills required to play squash.

The primary goal is to determine your starting point, or current level of skill.

The primary goal is to identify the specific areas of improvement to work on, to find the "lowest hanging fruits" for quick wins to build motivational momentum. Often, there are simple underlying issues that can be addressed
effectively if identified with a numerical tool to reduce subjective judgment and perceptual distortion and bias.

Our natural desire to see ourselves as better than we really are is self-destructive and
counter-productive to our development.

You will receive the full assessment results in electronic format for future reference and the categorisation of your ability; (beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc.) You will also be provided a training and practice plan to address the most important issues affecting your results.
SENSOR CLINIC
This personalised clinic will review the various functions of the racketware sensor’s capabilities. You may not know that The Academy has been instrumental in its research and development for the past 2 years providing technical input to make it more user friendly and useful for both social (fun) play as well as high performance feedback for those who engage in Deliberate Practice Principles.

Each clinic will be dedicated to refining your understanding of the technology so you can extract the most value and resolve any underlying issues. These will be conveniently scheduled throughout the year and will be held on-court to enable live demonstration and clarifications.
DELIBERATE PRACTICE PRINCIPLES WORKSHOP
You can spend countless hours “trying stuff,” but unless you have a proven system that works, you could in fact be reinforcing a bad habit that makes things worse, hard to change and in some cases, impossible to get rid of.

Deliberate Practice is a methodology used by the best in the world including Olympians, World Champions and Commonwealth Games athletes. Now you can tap into this powerful approach to create a breakthrough, the ‘quantum leap’ forward you need to get to your next performance level.

The power of Deliberate Practice Principles is that they apply to all human endeavours, not just sport. It’s a framework, a process that is scientifically designed to make the most of every single minute you invest in developing a new skill or ability to create the biggest breakthrough(s) in the least amount of time.

Deliberate Practice Principles are how you can manufacture breakthroughs faster and easier. The 1 Percent Improvement Doctrine is at the core of this scientifically proven methodology, but every once in a while, a quantum leap forward can be made when Deliberate Practice Principles are in play. Deliberate Practice Principles increase the frequency of quantum leaps and create a predictable environment where they will blossom disproportionately as if ‘by magic’.

But it’s a process with definite steps. This is not opinion, but PURE SCIENCE. It works each and every time. Predictably and definitively.
