Squash Analysis Lessons –
With Aaron Frankcomb

This new service is being offered to accommodate people who are self-isolating at home and want to continue developing their technical and strategic squash skills.

Champions, professional athletes and high-performance coaches know one of the foundations of Deliberate Practice Principles (DPP) is the athlete’s self-awareness.

Self-awareness is a learned skill that takes time to acquire. The first step is to watch others and develop observational skills (awareness) including a more descriptive vocabulary. Saying “he/she’s playing well or hitting the ball deep” is not enough for significant improvement to occur.
You can’t be self-aware of what you’re doing
if you can’t see it in others (awareness)
These video analysis and live interactive commentary lessons will teach you the art and science of awareness and self-awareness within the context of local players playing rather than professionals whose skill levels are way beyond your reach.

How to WATCH what is actually going on versus what you THINK is happening.
Picture
A keen eye for detail is essential to dice and slice the components of a movement, swing, tactic or strategy.
Picture
Often what happens is the result of an action 1, 2 or 3 shots before the error or winner is executed. Setting up a point is subtle, but it’s what separates competitive from social players and champions from non-champions.
Picture
By focusing on local matches, you will come to see the repetitive nature of the mistakes players make and how devastating they are when the opponent figures them out.
Picture
Each level of squash proficiency has its own tell-tale signs you can start to exploit the next time you get on court. We will cover these to broaden your understanding of what are called Performance Plateaus within DPP.
Picture
With each tell-tale sign you will learn, you can start to work to resolve it within your game to elevate yourself to the next ‘Performance Plateau’ in the rankings.
Picture
Syntax and descriptive vocabulary are essential: You will hear Aaron differentiate: A good length from a deep length versus a tight length or penetrating length in comparison to a devastating/crushing length.
Self-awareness is only possible once you get back on court or do exercises in the Squash in the park sessions, but developing awareness is a must-do step that can’t be skipped.

This is a unique opportunity to listen and watch in a group setting because everyone is home-bound, looking for something captivating and engaging to do.

Each session is 60 minutes with interactive start/stop Q&A. It is NOT pre-recorded. We want this to be interactive and limited to 10 participants per session so everyone can ask their own and hear each other’s questions.

Sessions Days & Times:
Note these sessions will start next week - Check MindBody for session times

  • Wednesday 6 - 7 pm Intermediate + 7:15 - 8:15 pm Beginner
  • Thursday 7:30 - 8:30 Intermediate + 8:30 - 9:30 pm Advanced
  • Saturday 8:30 - 9:30 am Intermediate + 9:45 -10:45 am Beginner
  • Sunday 5 - 6 pm Advanced + 6:15 - 7:15 pm Intermediate

There are countless videos are available on YouTube  and Squash TV. In contrast to those, these sessions are designed as INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES with your local coach – Aaron who knows you personally to give you advice that helps you in your game.

If you would like a 1:1 private (confidential) video analysis of some of your OWN previous matches, Aaron is available to do those at the same rate as Private Lessons.

Several elite (competitive) players have already been doing this over the past few weeks... They don't sit back and let life happen to them, they step up and make things happen - even when they can't get on court!
