After a week away I’m back on the squash scene, yesterday brought me to the SPL Australian Championships in Cardiff, Newcastle where I had an exhibition match with Aaron Fyfe. Take a quick look at the results and the Facebook page below!

There were some fantastic results over the 8 day tournament, the one that took the title in the end was Ramy Ashour against Mohamed Elshorbagy in 5 in an absolutely fantastic example of Egyptian Squash. You can finally play as your favorite PSA squash players, like Nick Matthew, Amr Shabana, Gregory Gaultier and the list goes on. Considering squash is somewhat struggling with its publicity around the world, Alternativesoft have taken the challenge to put one of the healthiest sports in the world into a video game to boost peoples knowledge of just how much fun our sport really is! Check this out Squash on the Wii: As this weekend leads into one of the biggest weekends for Junior squash players across Australia, Willoughby Squash Club prepares itself for a gigantic long weekend for the Australian Junior Open. This junior tournament brings in over 250 competitive youngsters eager to battle it out on the squash court to slowly climb the junior ladder to success. This hits pretty close to home for Aaron Frankcomb founder of East Coast Squash Academy, as he recalls the times he was called to action during a junior tournament of this caliber and reflects briefly on his fond memories of his time on the Junior Australian Circuit. With over 500 children participating per week at Willoughby Squash Club, East Coast Squash Academy boasts over 150 juniors in the junior development program. Recently hosting the Willoughby Junior Open (silver event) our juniors moved up the rankings quickly.
Our experienced coaching team at Willoughby Squash Club consists of Michelle Martin former world #1, Aaron Frankcomb former world #38, Dominic Benacquista, Moana Gray, Darcy Evans, Dominic Ratcliffe and Ryan Marshall. All our coaches put valuable time into our junior development program to help these players improve and establish the solid foundations they need to evolve into great players. We are pleased that our junior development program has produced the most players on the NSW Junior Rankings list, amongst them, some of the best players in the state! In less than a week Willoughby Squash Club will be hosting the Australian Junior Open and we are proud to give our players the opportunity to play such a prestigious event right here in our club. This experience will be invaluable and for our 30 junior participants who will be playing Australia's best players and even a few international players!
