This past weekend, our junior development team and elite development team members competed in New South Wales State Championships. We had many juniors competing and several making the State team, the Blue Tongues, who compete in the Australian Junior Championships against the the other state teams later in the season. 

In Boys U19, we had Ryan Marshall finish 1st and Luke Carah finish 7th. On the girls U19 side, Shehana Vithana finished 1st! For the Boys U17, James Johnson finished 6th, Ryan Lange finished 8th, and Jake Lacy finished 10th. Boys U13 saw another first place finish in Tom Lacy and a fifth place finish for Ken Lamb. Sydney Johnson finished 4th in GU13 and Kimberley Johnson finished 6th. Lastly, for the GU11, Emmy Lamb finished 5th. 

​In addition, 90% of our players either finished as their seeded ranking or better. We are so proud of all of our juniors! Great work this season and keep it up!

Sydney, NSW, Australia (31 June, 2016) – East Coast Squash Academy is proud to welcome another high-calibre squash professional to its faculty, Lewis Walters! Originally from England, he made it to the top 100 on the Professional Squash Association tour before moving to the United States and serving as the Assistant Coach for Yale University’s Squash team. He helped bring the men’s team to a national title and the women’s team to a national ranking of #5 this past season.
 
Walters will be working with the Academy for a 6-week period during his summer break following tournaments in Western Australia, making it to the finals against Australian native, Zac Alexander, in one of them.
 
His knowledge of the game and of coaching high-level players will be helpful for every type of player at the Academy.
 
The Academy’s founder and director, Aaron Frankcomb, was excited to see Lewis in Australia since he has known him for many of years, and met while they were based in England.” Frankcomb notes, “It’s great to have one of my old training partners, old competitors here in Sydney to work together to build up the game of squash! Also, it’s great to have another top 100 squash player working with our members.”
 
Lewis also adds, "I'm really looking forward to working at the Academy over the next 6 weeks. It has a great set up with lots of enthusiastic junior and senior players making it a great place to coach and train.  Sydney's squash clubs have a real buzz about them at the moment."

Bondi Waverley Squash Club
Bondi Waverley is a member-run club located in the heart of Bondi Junction. A beautiful four-court centre and bar, Bondi Waverley Squash Club has entered teams in Sydney’s pennant competition for over 40 years. In addition to courts, the club is also available for functions in the spacious bar and lounge, with pool tables and poker machines. The club is now the second location for East Coast Squash Academy and hosts annual tournaments as well as regular programs for all skill levels and age groups.
