For me, World Squash Day is about creating awareness within the local community and giving people the understanding of how great our game is. Every squash athlete’s dream is to turn squash into an Olympic Sport as the pinnacle of the game for its elite players. Events like World Squash Day help create this awareness around the world. Over 185 countries participated, which is mind boggling that we’re still struggling to get into the Olympics!
We hosted several different activities throughout the day with great support from Willoughby Squash Club members offering their time to play.
The day’s activities included:
- Adult Squash Clinics
- Junior Squash Clinics
- A blow up Squash Court – outside (include photo!)
- Face Painting
- Doubles Squash
- NSW Squash Premier League featuring Michelle Martin former world #1, Matthew Karwalski PSA # 64 and Aaron Frankcomb former world #38
- Hot Shots
- Lucky Door Prizes
We also had a BBQ going and catering for our Premier League Players and supporters. It was fantastic to have great support from our local news paper - North Shore Times coming down for some photos and taking reports across the day.
A big thank you goes out to all those who helped make this event a success without your support and contribution these events would not be as enjoyable. Thank you!
